AI orchestration

AI orchestration is the layer that sits between several AI agents and the systems a hotel actually runs on, deciding which agent may read what, which model handles a request, and what happens when an action half-completes.

Without it, each AI tool talks to the PMS, the POS and the CRM on its own terms. That works with one agent. With five it becomes impossible to answer two questions an operator needs answered: who was allowed to see this guest's data, and who changed this reservation?

An orchestration layer usually handles:

  • Routing requests to the right agent and holding the context of a conversation
  • Access control, so an agent retrieves only the data its permissions allow
  • Model selection by policy rather than by whichever model the vendor prefers
  • Action coordination, including recovery when a multi-step workflow fails partway
  • Identity, permissions and audit logging across every agent

The practical rule emerging in hospitality is that the AI should propose a change and something independent of the AI should validate it before it reaches a system of record. The PMS stays the authority over its own data.

For operators evaluating an AI product, the orchestration question is simple: what checks the agent's work, and can you see a record of what it did?
