OwnerRez opens its MCP server to everyone, so you can ask Claude or ChatGPT about your bookings

OwnerRez has moved its MCP server out of limited release and made it available to every account. Connect it once and you can ask Claude or ChatGPT questions about your own portfolio in plain English, and get an answer built from your live data rather than a guess.
The announcement came in the September product update, published 6 October. OwnerRez had emailed a first-look group about it on 2 October.
What it actually does
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is the connection standard that lets an AI assistant read from an outside system, and OwnerRez describes it as a way to "securely link AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT to your OwnerRez account".
The access is read-only. The assistant can see bookings, properties, guests, messages, rates and calendars. It cannot change anything, cannot send a message, cannot move a reservation. For a first release that is the right call, and it is worth stating plainly because the AI assistants in several competing systems now do take actions.
The sort of question it answers: occupancy summaries, who is arriving this week, how one month compared with another. OwnerRez says the assistant can also produce visual comparisons of financial differences across several months, which is the kind of thing that normally means exporting a CSV and building a pivot table.
The setup bar is deliberately low. "You don't need to be technical," OwnerRez says. "If you can type a question, you can use it." No pricing was announced, and it appears to be included rather than charged for.
What OwnerRez has not published is how the data is scoped on the AI side, or what the assistant retains. Read-only removes the worst risk, but anyone pointing a general-purpose assistant at a database of guest names, messages and payment status should check their own data-protection position before switching it on. That question sits with you, not with OwnerRez.
This is also the second PMS in a fortnight to ship an MCP connection. Hospitable's MCP server can already act on devices rather than only read, so expect write access to be the next competitive step here.
PM Automated Expenses
The other substantial item in the same update went live on 30 September and is for property managers rather than hosts.
PM Automated Expenses puts owner-covered costs onto statements without anyone tracking them by hand. You configure an expense once and it is created either immediately when a booking is made, on a specific date, or on a recurring weekly, monthly or yearly schedule. OwnerRez gives cleaning fees, guest consumables and lawn care as the examples.
It requires the Property Management premium feature, so it is not available on a standard host plan.
For a manager running owner statements, this is the kind of change that quietly removes a monthly chore. The recurring option is the useful part: a fixed monthly landscaping charge across thirty properties is thirty line items someone was previously typing.
Also worth knowing
Two smaller items in the same update carry deadlines or channel behaviour that could catch you out.
OwnerRez now saves an Airbnb guest's preferred language when the guest shares it, and opens guest forms in that language automatically. That extends across Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo and Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy.
Hosts can also now reconnect disconnected Vrbo properties from inside the existing Vrbo channel integration, rather than starting over.
OwnerRez's Google Hotels channel integration, announced at the end of September and still in public beta, was covered separately on PMS News.
