Expedia Group has launched a way for properties to join its marketplace without leaving the software they already run. Pick Expedia Group as a channel inside your connectivity provider or PMS, accept the agreement, and the listing can be live in under 24 hours.

The product is called Autonomous Onboarding, announced on 20 October from Seattle. The point of it is that nobody retypes anything. Expedia's systems read the property's existing software and move the data needed to build the listing: room types, rates and rate plans, photos, amenities, payment setup, availability and other property details. Expedia then validates what it received and switches the property live.

Five connectivity partners ran the pilot and shaped the product: HotelRunner, Yanolja Cloud Solutions, RoomCloud, RateGain and Eviivo. Of those, Yanolja Cloud Solutions is the one with a PMS underneath it, the platform that absorbed eZee. The other four are channel managers and distribution platforms.

"Adding a new source of demand should not add a new layer of work," said Chris Hodges, vice president of global connectivity and partner solutions at Expedia Group. He called it "an important first step in our broader vision for AUTONOMOUS DISTRIBUTION, where partners can spend less time on manual processes and more time growing their business".

Once live, a property reaches Expedia's consumer brands, a B2B network the company puts at more than 75,000 partners and 200,000 travel advisors, and what Expedia describes as its emerging AI travel partnerships. For scale, Expedia reported more than a billion average monthly searches and over 415 million booked room nights in 2025.

The part worth reading twice

"Expedia Group's technology reaches into the property's existing software and transfers the critical data needed to set up the hotel." That sentence is the whole product, and it is also the thing to think about before clicking accept.

A 24-hour go-live is fast. It is faster than most operators can audit a listing. Whatever your PMS currently holds for amenities, photos and rate plans becomes your Expedia listing, including the amenity somebody ticked in error and the photo set from the last refurbishment. Expedia validates the data, which is not the same as checking it is accurate, and the release does not say whether the property gets to review the mapped listing before it goes live or only after.

Rate plans deserve the same attention. Rates copied across automatically are rates you have not consciously decided to put on Expedia. If your PMS carries a corporate or long-stay plan you never intended to distribute, the sensible move is to look at what is flagged for channel distribution before you switch this on, not after.

What is still unknown

Which systems can actually do this, and when. The release names the five pilot partners and says nothing about the rollout beyond them. If you are on Mews, Cloudbeds, Apaleo, Guestline or anything else, there is no date and no list.

Commercial terms are also absent. Onboarding faster does not change commission, and the release makes no claim that it does.

Expedia is calling this the first phase of a longer Autonomous Distribution plan that will eventually extend into how partners manage and optimise their business. That is worth watching. Automated onboarding is a convenience. Automated optimisation would mean an OTA taking a hand in decisions that currently sit with the revenue manager, and operators will want to see exactly where the line falls before that arrives.
