Shiji has announced the official global launch of Meridian Experiences, a cloud system for selling and running everything a guest books that is not a room. Spa treatments, golf tee times, tours, equipment rentals, wellness programmes and activities all sit in one place.
The announcement came out of Berlin on 27 October.
What it does
Meridian Experiences handles inventory, reservations, scheduling and resource allocation for non-room products. The pieces Shiji lists:
Centralised inventory, reservations and scheduling across spa, golf, wellness, leisure and activities. A Visual Planner that shows reservations, staff, locations and equipment together. Flexible rates, cashiering with integrated payment workflows, and guest correspondence. Advanced resource scheduling and commission management, which matters when therapists and instructors are paid on what they sell.
It runs either as a standalone product or inside the Shiji ecosystem. Inside it, Shiji says it connects natively to the company's property management, guest engagement, payments, distribution and data intelligence products, giving one guest itinerary and one shared guest profile across the estate.
Kevin King, Shiji's CEO, said "the experiences surrounding a stay are no longer secondary," and framed the product as extending connectivity beyond the room. Anthony Hunt, Vice President for Strategy and Product, put the problem more usefully: "Most resorts still manage spa, golf, wellness, activities, staff, and equipment across disconnected systems."
Shiji's own product pages say hotels in more than 50 countries already use it for spa and activity bookings, that it supports 15 languages, and name IHG, The Langham, The Peninsula Hotels, Dakota Hotels, Ruby Hotels and Sircle Collection among users. There is also a mobile extension, Meridian Experiences Move, for serving guests away from a fixed terminal.
The launch is a formality, and that is worth saying
Read the announcement carefully and this is not a product appearing from nothing.
Shiji says the product builds on more than 25 years of specialist experience in the spa, activities and golf market, and that Meridian Experiences is already supporting resorts and hotels worldwide. Shiji also issued a release in June 2026 about expanding Meridian Experiences with Scheduled Activities and integrated resource commissions in Daylight PMS. So the name, the product and the customers all predate this week.
What has happened is a formal global launch of something that has been growing inside the Shiji portfolio for a while. That is a reasonable thing for a vendor to do. It is just not the same thing as a new system arriving.
The release gives no pricing, no regional rollout dates, and no detail on what changes for existing customers of Shiji's earlier spa and activities products. If you are already on one of them, that last point is the question to put to your account manager: whether this is a rename, an upgrade path, or a migration with a date attached.
For operators
Ancillary revenue is where the attention is right now, and the pitch here is a real one. If your spa runs on one system, your golf shop on another, and your activity desk on a spreadsheet, you cannot see what a guest actually spends, and you cannot schedule a therapist against a tee time.
The trade-off is the usual one with an ecosystem product. The shared profile and the single itinerary are the main benefits, and both are strongest when the PMS, payments and distribution are also Shiji's. Shiji says it works standalone, so the fair question to ask in a demo is how much of the value survives when the PMS underneath is somebody else's.
