Hospitable now takes credit cards for cleaning and maintenance bills, and does not say what it costs

Hospitable has added credit card payments to the bills side of Tasks, so cleaning and maintenance invoices can be paid by card rather than by bank transfer. Hospitable calls it a faster, easier alternative to ACH, and points out that you will earn points with your bank.

It also says billing setup is simpler now, so getting started with operations payments should take less time.

The number that is missing

Hospitable's update does not state a card processing fee.

That absence is the whole story for anyone deciding whether to use this. ACH is cheap, usually a flat amount per transfer or free. Card processing is a percentage, typically somewhere around 3%. On a cleaning bill of 80 euros the difference is small. Across a portfolio of forty units turning over twice a week, a few per cent on every cleaning invoice is a real line in the annual accounts, and it is a line that buys you nothing operationally, because the cleaner gets paid either way.

Bank points are a genuine benefit, and for some operators the cashback or the airline miles on tens of thousands of euros of cleaning spend will cover the processing cost. That is an arithmetic question, not a feature question, and you cannot answer it from what Hospitable has published. Ask for the rate before you switch your default payment method.

The faster part is more clearly real. ACH takes days to clear. A card payment clears in a day or so. If you have cleaners who chase invoices, or turnover staff who will not take the next job until the last one is paid, speed is worth paying for.

Hospitable does not say whether there is a transaction limit, or which countries and card types are supported.

Bulk inventory upload

The same update adds a CSV upload for inventory, so you can load a list rather than typing it in. Hospitable frames it as saving team time and cutting manual entry errors, which is what bulk upload is always for.

No file format is documented in the update, and no row limit is given. If you are planning to load several hundred items, expect to find the column names by trial and error or by asking support for a template.

This one is worth doing if you have been running inventory on a spreadsheet alongside Hospitable, which most operators with a storage cupboard have been. Moving the spreadsheet in is the point.

What to do about it

If you pay cleaners and maintenance through Tasks, ask Hospitable what the card rate is, then compare it against what your bank gives you back. If the points beat the fee, switch and enjoy the faster clearing. If they do not, the faster payment is still worth buying on the jobs where a delay costs you a turnover, and not on the rest.

Leave ACH as the default until you have the number.

Hospitable shipped this alongside Airbnb's top rated guest discount and a set of API and MCP changes in the same 30 October update.
