Night Audit

The Night Audit is the daily process, traditionally run overnight, that closes the hotel's business day in the PMS: posting room charges to every in-house folio, reconciling payments, rolling the system date forward and producing the day's reports (occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, revenue by department).

In cloud PMSes

Cloud-native systems such as Mews, Cloudbeds and Apaleo have largely automated the night audit. Charges post continuously, payments reconcile against the folio automatically, and the end-of-day report generates itself. The role has not disappeared, but the manual step has, which is one of the main operational arguments vendors make for migrating off legacy on-premise systems.
