HTNG Express PMS
A lightweight integration standard from AHLA (the American Hotel and Lodging Association, which absorbed HTNG, Hospitality Technology Next Generation) for connecting third-party products to a property management system.
Most PMS integrations are bespoke: each vendor builds and maintains a separate connection to each system, and the cost shows up in your subscription price and in how long you wait for new integrations. HTNG Express exists for the many products that do not need the whole PMS. It covers a limited set of data, essentially reservation, guest and room information, so the connection can be built and certified faster.
Why it matters to you. If a supplier tells you it cannot connect to your PMS, the reason is usually integration cost rather than capability. A standard both sides have implemented removes that excuse. Two questions worth asking: does your PMS support HTNG Express, and is a vendor's integration a certified standard one or a one-off build? Standard integrations tend to get fixed faster when they break.
Adoption is still thin, so check per vendor rather than assuming support.
